George Washington Carver Museum

The George Washington Carver Museum was built in 1915 and was designed by Robert R. Taylor. This museum is a time capsule of Dr. George Washington Carver’s priceless collections. A focal point of the Carver Museum is the first desk and laboratory equipment Dr. Carver used when he first came to Tuskegee in 1896. In 1947, a devastating fire caused great loss in the museum. Fortunately, many of Dr. Carver’s papers, products, and other items were recovered though most of the paintings were lost. Presently, the George Washington Carver Museum is being administered by the National Park Service as a part of Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site.
